Miss Bossy

I am trying to clean my house, my parents are coming in tomorrow evening for the night and of course, I feel the need to have my house spotless. I was just standing in the kitchen about to clean the counters when I heard Ry start to get just a little too bossy with Macee. This has been a constant battle lately with her and it's been quite frustrating. I've been trying to keep from yelling (although sometimes I do have to yell to be heard over Ry bossing Macee and Macee screaming in protest) so I walked into the living room and in a nice, calm voice told Rylee that Macee didn't understand what she was wanting her to do and that she needed to stop being bossy and pushing Macee around. Rylee got really mad and says to me, "Stop talking to me like that or your going to go to your room and take a nap!" My only response, "Sounds like an excellent plan to me!"
If only I could be put in my room for a nap....ahhhhh!

A Trip to the Peds.

Last Wednesday, although I felt completely yucky myself, I took the girls to the peds. office for Macee's 15 month check-up. Of course, going to the doctor is not a short trip in any means and this day was no different. Our peds. is very good about always having a movie playing, the office is decorated in a jungle theme (hince the pics of the monkey painted on the wall), and they always have stickers, toothbrushes, books, etc. to hand out to pass the time...which on this particular day helped me out tremendously!
Macee got a "looks good" from Dr. Boel and both girls got their flu vaccines! Rylee was able to get the one that is inhaled through the nose, which was great because she DOES NOT appreciate shots! We head back in January for Macee's 18 month check-up. Hopefully, that will be the next time we have to see Dr. Boel or Dr. Teichman!
Macee, almost naked, waiting on Dr. Boel...unaware of what was going to happen :)
Ry needed to put her sticker on her belly too!

Fall Parent/Teacher Conference

Yesterday I went to our very first Parent/Teacher Conference for Rylee! Ms. Barb has lots of good stuff to say about Rylee, which Mommy and Daddy are very proud of! Rylee likes to play with playdoh, paint, read, and be read to. She also said that Rylee is a very good leader and plays well with her friends. Also, (not surprisingly) Rylee shows concern for her friends, if she feels they are sad or hurt, she is sure to make sure that Ms. Barb, Ms. Denise or Ms. Lisa know. Ms. Barb showed me some things that Rylee has traced and cut and made comment of how well Ry does with her fine motor skills.
We went over some goals that they have for Rylee the rest of the school year that they will be working with her on...things such as using lower case letters to write the y-l-e-e in her name, continuing to encourage her love for reading...help her to begin reading stories or creating her own stories, and continue to develop her fine motor skills.
Rylee is a very smart girl. I know, I'm her Mommy, I should be saying that. But seriously, she has always amazed me with the things that she knows and can recall from memory. I hope that she continues to love school as much as she does now because in this day in age, your education is the most valued possesion to have. I also hope that she continues to be the social butterfly that she is and always has a heart for her friends.
We are very lucky to be in an area that there are so many things that Rylee (and Macee too) can take advantage of as far as education and extra curricular activities. Our preschool is absolutely wonderful and Ry's teachers ROCK! I'm so glad taht we chose the preschool we did!

Fall Leaves...SO FUN

The girls had a blast playing in the leaves at Nina and Papaw's house. They have so many more trees with so many more leaves than we do here at home! Rylee and Macee could have played for hours raking, sweeping, jumping into, and throwing the leaves! So sweet and so innocent! Brought back lots of memories of when I was a little girl and we'd (or help) rake the leaves and jump in them, then Daddy would rake them onto a tarp and we'd get to ride in the leaves to the burn pile.

Home for the Weekend

The girls and I headed to Brazil for the weekend last weekend...Brazil, Indiana that is! We spent the weekend with family and friends. We got to spend some time at Jew's Tavern (entitled to it's own blog) and a day at the Covered Bridge Festival. I do have to admit, the most exciting part of going home is seeing Hally, my sweet niece, who is unbelievably 7 months old!

Swim, Rylee, Swim!

Rylee has become quite the swimmer. She's gone from having a death grip around Daddy's neck in Parent and Tot swim class, crying all the way to swim class and through swim class to wanting to put on her swimsuit first thing the morning of swim class due to excitement and jumping in at her own free will! We're so proud of her! We're taking this session off from swim lessons though, there is a lot going on in the next couple of months and we're trying to stay from being too overloaded.

Our little fish floating on her back.

We love Miss BJ, our swim instructor, she ROCKS!!!

Cookie Monsters

I decided to go back to work at The Children's Place, at least through the holidays. It will be nice to save some money on the girls clothes and to have a little extra spending money for the holidays. Anyways, Saturday was my first evening back. I was feeling a little guilty, I always do when I leave the girls, even if I'm just going to the grocery by myself. Also, Ry sometimes has a hard time with Mommy being gone. So, I promised the girls a prize...a cookie. I picked up these cute little monster cookies at the cookie place inside the mall.

One each for my little monsters!

Just a Day on the Farm...

Saturday we went to Huber's Farm in Starlight, Indiana. This was our first time there since we've lived here. This place is fantastic! We started our time there with a buffet lunch containing salad, slaw, fried bread, green beans and potatoes, corn, ham, fried chicken and cobbler and ice cream for dessert. SOOOOO YUMMY! Good thing it was buffet style, I was sure to get 2nds!
After lunch we hopped on a tractor and headed to the pumpkin patch to pick our very own pumpkins!

The girls had so much fun finding their pumpkins! They were so cute, two sweet little girls in the middle of this vast field of pumpkins!

Huber's has a lot more to offer than just food and pumpkins. They have a great area for the kids to play, a corn maze, a horse drawn carriage ride, and SO much more! I've promised the girls we'll go back one day durning the week, hopefully they won't be as busy as they were this weekend!

A Michigan Weekend

We headed up to Michigan this past weekend, what a funfilled weekend we had! We left Friday after Marty got off of work, it's easier to travel with children when they sleep a lot of the way. Saturday we took the girls to The Rainforest Cafe and had a yummy lunch! We also did a little shopping. Saturday evening Gloria introduced me to my new fav. home store, Home Goods. I had seen commercials for the store, but didn't realize how wonderful it was until we went there! I'm going to have to go check out the one here in Louisville, ASAP! We capped off the night with one of my all time favorites, Jets Pizza!

Sunday was Molly's bridal shower at Maggiano's Little Italy. Oh my goodness, did we have some good food! Molly got some great stuff and, of course, Rylee made herself a helper when it was time to open gifts! She's a skilled professional when it comes to opening packages!

We headed home after the shower. We were going to wait and come home on Monday, but Marty wanted to have some time go relax before going back to work today. It's always nice to be home, even after short trips. There's nothing like your own bed, your own shower, and your own space :-)!

Picture Day!

Rylee had her school pictures today! I can't wait to see how they turn out! She looked so cute this morning all dressed up and ready for her picture to be taken!

Meanwhile, Macee was looking quite messy after attempting to eat her spaghetti herself today at lunch! How can Mommy not love that little, messy face?

These are the girls, a year ago. Can you believe how big each one has gotten in the past 12 months? I'm beside myself! I've been trying to get my pictures organized on my computer, but am having to take time outs for moments of amazement. I am completely amazed at how big the girls are getting, how beautiful each one is, how smart they both are, and how incredibly lucky and blessed we are that God chose us to be their parents!
